Terry’s Chocolate Orange Millionaire Shortbread

This recipe is amazing!! So decadent, delicious and dangerously moreish.

I tweaked the recipe to make a mint chocolate version too as a challenge after the success of the orange version. I literally just added mint where the recipe called for orange, mint chocolate aero balls when it called for chocolate orange and green food colouring rather than orange. Both were great, but I think I preferred the orange version.

Making these sweet treats is time-consuming with all the chilling, but defiantly worth it. I decided to add a little bit extra orange flavouring to the shortbread the second time I made it, as I didn’t have a lot of orange zest, which worked well, but adding zest is best. I also added some finely chopped mint leaves and mint flavouring to the shortbread when making the mint one which worked well.

One tip I would strongly advise is to let your finished product chill in the fridge overnight before attempting to cut it into sections. I cut mine too early on my second attempt and the caramel was very oozy. Still super yummy, just very sticky.
